In previous post (Give Me a Flower) I talked about the right flower based on people who will receive it and on the occasion. However there is a third fact to consider into your flower’s choice: the message. The flowers language can help us in these cases.
When words aren’t enough… Flowers help us!
Following some famous flowers and their meaning:
Paradise Flower: is a very precious flower. There are different variation of this flower. In flower language it means Magnificent and Nobility;
Tulip: based on the colors it can mean different messages. White tulip for ask Forgiveness,the yellow one for give a Smile, multicolored tulip are used for Compliments, pink tulip means Affection and at last red tulip means True Love;
Poppy: maybe one of the most evocative flower in each variations. It’s easy like thinking to the wonderful colored spot that poppies create in blond wheat fields. In floral language it means Simplicity;
Cherry Flowers: mean Greeting and Renaissance . This meaning born from a Japanese celebration named: Hanami, during which the Japaneses celebrate the ritual of the observation of the blossom and the fallen of the flowers. The Hamani celebrates the renaissance of the nature but it is also the moment for think about the evanescent sense of the life beautiful and fragile like cherry flowers;
Carnation: it has different meanings during the centuries. Based on mythology, this flower was tied to Diana, the goddess of hunting. A guy was fallen in love with her, Diana seduced him and abandoned him. The poor guy cried for a long time and, from his tears fallen on the ground, borned beautiful flowers: the Carnations. In floral language red carnation means Passionate Love, the white one means Loyalty;
Chrysanthemu: In Europe, especially in Italy, it blooms in October and for this reason it is called the Dead’s Flower. In Oriental cultures, instead, especially China and Japan, it is the favorite wedding flower;
Sunflower: maybe because of its physical affinity with the sun, in floral language it means Happiness and Energy;
Orchid: it is one of the most beautiful, perfect, fascinating and sensual flowers. If you give an orchid to someone your message is “thanks for your love” or “you have my total veneration”. In Asia this flower is the symbol of children purity.
Wisteria: because of its singular growing (this climbing plant grows with spiral movement, in clockwise or counterclockwise direction), this flower is the symbol of the Development of Human Awareness;
Daisy: in flowers language it means Purity, Innocence, Kindness and Spontaneity;
Hydrangea: is the perfect gift when a new love borns;
Camellia: it was imported in europe only in 1700, and becames famous after Dumas’ book “The Lady Of The Camellias“. In asia was the King’s flowers, only the kings can cultivate and pick it. It means Perfect Beauty and Superiority
Cyclamen: there are two meanings for this flowers, the negative meaning is Separation, but it also can have a positive meaning, the wishes for prosperity of the family;
Lilium: especially for catholic people it means Purity. Indeed Saint Joseph was often depicted with a cane in which white lilies bloom;
Mimosa: it could seem fragile, instead is a really resistant flower. In floral language it means Femininity and Strength;
Peach Flowers: in flowers language they mean Gratitude and Admiration.
There aren’t only good messages!

Rose is the queen of the flowers, the perfect gift for a woman and the inspiration for artists. In floral language it has different meaning based on its color

- Violet Rose: love at first look
- Yellow Rose: Jealousy
- Blue Rose: Mystery
- Black Rose: Death
