Even if the spring time is just around the corner, why we’ll should give up of drinking a good and hot drink, maybe on the couch, during our preferite series in the night?

I took this habit in the cold New York nights, and although the night aren’t cold now, I really love drink my 20160307_203658hot drink during watching TV in the nights. I bought a lot of infusions especially organic infusions, and sometimes with very weird tastes, but, reading the ingredients of this infusions, I noticed that they contained really common ingredients, especially Ginger. Actually Ginger is one of the most common ingredient included in about 70% of the infusions I bought. It was really curios for me, so I decided to find the reason of that… and I figured out that the Ginger is a sort of “elixir for eternal life” with a lot of benefic effects!

20160307_203810I really like the “infusion time” before go to bed and for this reason I figured out different “recipes” for have a different tisane every night!

Let’s start with the Tisanes

The ginger could be used in different way in cuisine (you can use it in some cakes, and also for some pasta recipes), I want use it in my infusions and tisanes. What I tried to do was to try some different combinations between ginger and other ingredients for obtaining several taste in my infusions.

Spicy Tisane With Ginger and Lemon

This infusion has a lot of particularity and beneficial effects. The firdt peculiarity is its spicy taste really zenzero e limoneuncommon, but it has also a lot of properties that are good for your health. The ginger has digestive benefits, and, thanks to its antioxidant property and also thanks to the C vitamin included in lemons, the infusion has also a good effect for fighting cold and flu symptoms. I read in some blogs, that the ginger has also slimming properties because it is a metabolism activator. I cannot say anything about the last point, but I can assure that the tisane is really tasty, exotic, and it is also good for my digestion. For this reason this is the tisane I drink after a big feast!

How I make it? I put the water in a little bowl and when the water is hot I pour it in my cup. I add 3 or 4 slices of ginger and the peel and the juice of half lemon and a very tiny piece of hot pepper. I leave the ingredients in infusion for 10 – 15 minutes and after that i remove the ginger the peel of the lime and, of course the pepper. If it is necessary I add a spoon of honey and I enjoy my drink!

Spicy Tisane With Ginger and Cinnamon

Cinnamon and gigerThe procedure for preparing this second infuse is the same that I showed you above. I boil the water and, when it is hot I put it in my cup with 3 or 4 ginger’s slices and a cinnamon stick. I leave in infusion for 5 – 10 minutes. After this time I remove the ginger and the cinnamon and, if it is necessary, I sweeten my drink with a spoon of honey. Due to the presence of the cinnamon, maybe this infuse is indicated especially for the winter. In my opinion it is really good and I still drink it even if now is March! Regarding the properties of this infusion, it is a great cure against those nights in which we are not at the top. Indeed, the cinnamon is a natural stimulator and it is very good for fight the fatigue feeling, in addition, the ginger is great against the cold and flue symptoms.

 Deflating Tisane With Ginger, Fennel and Anise

Sometime could happen that I feel a kind of inflated. This happen especially in the seasonal change butinfuso finocchio also after some day of big feast. In this situations my best fellows are the fennel, the ginger and the anise! As usual I start boiling the water and in my cup I add to the water some fennel and anise seeds and 3 – 4 slices of ginger. If necessary I sweeten the tisane with a spoon of honey.

The fennel is indicated for the inflated status and is a great drain. The anise has a lot of properties that helps the digestion process (and has also a very particular taste!), as I said before the ginger has also some properties good for our digestion process. According to my experience I can assure that this tisane is the best for recovering our shape and for abandoning the inflate feeling!

What can we drink in springtime and summertime?

Of course for spring and summer time, infusions are not the best choice! Anyway I do not want to lose all the benefits of ginger and other ingredients included in my infusion , so I figure out an excellent solution: I prepared cold drink that I can drink along my entire day!

My favorite cold healthy drink are two: the first one is cold infuse of ginger and lime and the second one is fennel seeds infusion (or fennel and anise).

For the first option, ginger and lemon, the preparation is really similar to the preparation for the hot version and also the doses. I boil 2 liter of water and when the water is hot I add 4 slices of ginger and the peel and juice of half lemon. After 15 minutes of infusion I remove ginger and lemon and leave cold all the night (for a very iced drink I put the bottle in the fridge all night long). I put my drink in my bottles and I drink it along all the day.

In the same way I prepare my drain cold drink with fennel seeds (or with fennel and anise), I put the seeds of fennel (and anise too) in infusion for 10 – 15 minutes. I split the drink in 4 bottles and cool down in the fridge for all night long.
This two options are perfect for me! As all of us know, during the day we should drink at least 2 liter of water. Personally I’m not able to do that all days but, in the days in which I prepare these special drinks, I’m able to drink all my 2 liters of drink easily! In this way I achieve my goal to drink at least 2 liters of water, but I also add the great healty properties of ginger, lemon and fennel seeds!
