German Potatoes: My Recipe

Hello Friends!

Here the today’s recipe for this week. One of the thing I love mostly of New York city, is the possibility to receive pretty much everything at home. Especially during winter’s months I didn’t want to go outside for eating a good dinner at a restaurant. So in this case and also because of my lazy mood the best solution is to order the dinner and wait at home the delivery guy! There are a lot of app and website for doing this, my favorite one is delivery.com.

One of the restaurant I love to order through delivery.com is Hill Country  BBQ. This place has amazing meat and awesome side dishes as well. Since some months ago, my favorite side dish was “German potatoes, but unfortunately starting from a couple of months ago, they delete the German Potatoes from the menu. For this reason I decided to try to replicate the German Potatoes, and for this reason today I’ m going to show you my results! I made a lot of experiments during the past weeks, but finally I figured out a recipe for my version of German Potatoes which have almost the same taste compared to the one from Hill Country BBQ.

Let’s see how I’ve done…

Ingredients for 4 portions

Time to prepare 15 minutes – time to cook 15 minutesingredients

  • 800 gr of potatoes;
  • 2 fresh baby onions;
  • 1 chives;
  • 3 tablespoon of Mayonnaise;
  • Vinegar (or apple cider vinegar);
  • 150 gr of smoked bacon in cubes;
  • Salt and pepper.

Useful toolsingredients-2

  • 1 big pot;
  • 1 frying pan;
  • 1 Terrine;
  • Spoons.

Procedure

At the beginning I washed carefully the potatoes and I cut them in cubes (remember to not peel them). I put the cubes in the pot with salted water and I boiled it for 10/12 minutes. In the meanwhile I cleaned the baby onion and  cut them and I chopped also the chives. I removed the potatoes from the water and I put them in a terrine and I let them cool down.

In the frying pan I put the bacon and I cooked it for a while because I wanted it become crispy. I added in the terrine with the potatoes the baby onions, the chives, the bacon and I melted all the ingredients. At the end I added 3 tablespoon of mayonnaise and some vinegar (the amount of vinegar depends from your personal tastes). I mixed everything carefully and that’s it, my German potatoes were ready!

This was my result

Instead of bacon you can use sausages or ham… as usual when you are cooking, there are no limits!

I really don’t know if online   there are similar recipe for this dish, actually what I tried to do is to reproduce the Hill Country BBQ’s German potatoes. I’m pretty proud of my recipe and all my friend who tried my potatoes loved them!

Of course I don’t suggest this side dish for a formal and elegant dinner… but I think it is perfect for an easy dinner with friends with some grilled meat and sausages!

Let me know, in the comment box below, if you are going to try my version of German Potatoes or if you think I need to change something for improving my recipe!

We’ll see soon for new recipes!
