To complete all the tasks of the To Do List I showed you in the last post (Home made Halloween Party part 1), now I tell you about the other points of the list: the tasks about house’s decorations and the dinner menú.

In next post I propose my works with some tutorial videos. So let’s start!

House’s decorations

Is important that decorations fits with the party’s theme, the house is the scenario of your party! But there are some decorations which fit with any topics (and you can use those for your future parties). Some example of this kind of decoration are: pumpkins, tiny or big carved or painted, candles and lanterns, which are the spotlights of our dark atmosphere, spiders and spider webs, crows and bats and black cats everywhere. In addition to these standard decorations you need some specific details of the issue. Some example: some syringes to serve red ponce, tiny smoking cauldrons (the smoking effect is made simply with dry ice) for the appetizer’s drinks; little drinks with strange colors served directly in test tubes.

Appropriate Music

In a dark and mystery night, with black and grey all around you and a really deep atmosphere, you need an appropriate soundtrack. The background music should be dark and you can added some screams, a door’s squeaks or a chain’s sounds. You can make a medley of best horror films soundtrack. But if you haven’t enough time or desire to do your personal horror soundtrack you can looking for one of the YouTube proposals, there are some few creepy options.

Remember: the music is only a background soundtrack of your party, it mustn’t play at high volume and it mustn’t obstruct your guests chatting. If you like it you can add some terrifying scenes from famous horror movies.

The dinner menu

For the choice of the menu you have a bunch of options dependant to your tastes and your culinary capabilities. An easy and fast menu include a rich appetizer with finger food and canape, after that 1 or 2 main courses and at the end some cakes and sweets. The real peculiarity of your dinner is the strange and mysterious name of your dishes. So you have to serve the appetizer in a dark angle of the dining room, with a bunch of spider webs; you can use natural colorant to color your cocktails like blood or magic potions, and you can also put some tiny eyes and spiders in the ice cubes (it is easy, you have to buy them and add to the water in the ice bowl befor put it into the freezer), at the end you can serve your cocktails directly in test tubes. You can cook some creepy fingers food like whürstel wrapped in phyllo dough seem like mummies, green guacamole with black beans, salted muffins with strange appearance. Remember:  a good centrepiece make the difference at the same time to a good placeholder. Wrap wine bottle in medical bendage and put a label with a potion’s name on it. Follow some dishes I prefer cook in this kind of party, they are easy and quickly to prepare: For the main dishes a pumpkin risotto, cannelloni with zucca, gnocchi made with pumpkins or a soup; for second course I suggest chicken cubes with pumpkin’s cream or a classic grilled meat. At least but not last the sweets: a winning and fast solution is colored cupcakes and muffins, a pumpkins pie, biscuits and candy apples.

A gift for your guests

To give a gift to your guest at the end of the party is a really smart action. It isn’t necessary a expensive gift, it is enough a little object for remember the party’s night. For this purpose you can use the dinner placeholder or a tiny home made object, a little decorated candle, a small painted pumpkin or a little Trick or Treat bag with some sweets. At the end of the story the message is….In the Halloween night all of us come back like children!

I hope my advices can be useful for you to manage your Halloween Party at home.
