Light Cocoa Cake…

Hello Everybody!

As you know March means springtime, we’ll start to expose part of our body, but we’ll start also our fight for loose weight! Actually this is the best period for starting a diet and for arriving prepared for our bikini! Even if we are in low calories diet, why we must quit eating tasty stuff? What we done to do to deserve it? NOTHING!
For this reason the cake that I’ll propose you today is perfect for this period of diet because it it is “light” but, at the same time, I assure that it is really tasty! This cake is perfect for who want starting their day with something really sweet and tasty but without a bunch of calories! The Light Cocoa Cake is perfect for the breakfast but it fits well for every moment of the day, when you’re looking for a culinary cuddle.

Let’s see what I’ve done for preparing my diet cake!

This cake, as I said, is light due to fact that we do not need eggs and butter for making it. Furthermore is really easy to make and you need only an half hour to bake it, at last but not least, if you replace the cow milk with vegetable milk (soy, rice, almond milk) the recipe is completely veggie! So this cake fits for everyone!

Time to prepare 5 minutes – Time to cook 25/30 minutes

Ingredients for a cake with 25 cm of diameter (about 10 inches):

  • 200 gr flour;
  • 240 gr sugar (or brown sugar);
  • 100 gr cocoa;
  • 300 ml milk (animal or vegetal);
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder;
  • 1 pinch of salt.Ingredienti

Useful Tools:

  • Terrine;
  • Spatula and whisk;
  • Small pot;
  • Baking pan;
  • Baking paper.

Procedure:

Due to the fact that the preparation time is really short, at the very beginning I turn on the oven at 180 celsius degrees (about 360 Fahrenheit Degrees). I started mixing all the dry ingredients: in one terrine I mixed the flour with the baking powder, I added the sugar, the cocoa and at last the salt, I mixed all these ingredients very well. If your milk is really cold, you have to warm it, I put the milk in a small pot and I warmed it until it is lukewarm.

I added a little by little the milk in the terrina with the other ingredients, I melted them continuously until I obtained a mixture very similar to a thick cream without clump.

Consistenza Composto

I covered my baking pan with the baking paper and I poured the mixture in it ( I used a rectangular baking pan, but I assure that with a circular baking pan the result is way better!) and I baked for about 25 minutes. After 20/25 minutes, I suggest to check the baking status of the cake. For doing that I use the toothpick method, it is really simple but infallible!

For those of you that do not know this trick, it consist in puncture the cake with the toothpick gently but very deeply, if when you extract the toothpick it is dry, your cake is perfectly baked both outside and inside. If the toothpick is wet, it means that the cake need to bake for few additional minutes.

Appena cotta

That’s it! You need only to take out the cake from the oven, let cool or some minutes and eat it!

I love baking, and one of the reason is the fragrance that invades the apartment during the cooking time. In this particular case, your house will be completely filled by an amazing cocoa aroma!

As you can image, you can decorate and fill the cake as you want even if it is pretty tasty by itself!

Yummy

I decided to decorate it only with some fresh fruits, because I was looking for a light breakfast cake, but another good idea is to fill it with some jam or marmalade. For those of you that are the most glutton you can fill the cake with a frosty similar to the one of the Red Velvet Cake, but in that way… I don’t think that the cake is light anymore!
